Toyota Tazz Temperature Sensor — Coolant Sender
Toyota Tazz coolant temperature sensors are a cheap fix for the classic 'temperature gauge fluctuating' complaint on 1.3 and 1.6 Tazz engines — usually the sensor itself rather than the gauge or the wiring. Both depots stock new aftermarket sensors at R180-R380 and OEM-equivalent at R280-R550.
Used OEM sensors are also available from CPT donors at R120-R220 but new is usually preferable since the sensor is a 30-minute fix and the cost difference is small. The same sensor fits 1.3 and 1.6 Tazz production and is shared with several early-1990s Toyota engines, so it's stocked deep at both depots. Replace with a fresh O-ring at fitment and ensure the cooling system is bled afterward to clear any trapped air around the sensor head.
