Toyota Condor Transmission

Every SA-market Condor shipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox — no automatic option, no dual-clutch, no torque converter mess to chase. The gearbox is a conventional H-pattern unit shared with the contemporary Hi-Ace and Venture of the era. Our toyota condor transmission range covers complete gearboxes, clutches, flywheels, differentials, driveshafts and transfer cases (4x4 variants only) across all petrol and diesel applications. Torque converters are not applicable — the Condor is manual-only.

Clutch replacement is the most common Condor transmission job — heavy loads, hill starts and taxi-trade duty kill clutch plates at 80,000-140,000 km. New aftermarket clutch kits (plate, cover, release bearing) from JHB run R1,400-R3,200 depending on variant. Flywheels should be checked for heat damage at every clutch change — R550-R1,200 used if yours needs replacing. 5-speed gearboxes with worn synchros are rebuildable at specialist workshops; a full rebuild typically costs less than a used replacement box by the time labour and parts are compared. Diffs are sold as complete assemblies by ratio — always quote your axle code.
