Toyota Starlet Headlights — P80/P90 vs Modern Generations
The Starlet badge covers two completely different SA cars and the headlight assemblies are not interchangeable between them. The modern Starlet (2020+, 1.4 Xi/Xs/Xr) uses projector/halogen units shared with the Suzuki Baleno, typically R1,800-R3,800 per side aftermarket or R1,200-R2,400 used OEM from CPT donors.
Earlier P80 Starlets used round and rectangular sealed-beam reflector units that are still sourceable from the CPT depot at R350-R850 per side, with the matched rubber gaskets and parking-light bulbs included. Replace headlamps in pairs to match beam output. Modern Starlet LED retrofits exist (R600-R1,400 per pair) but rarely pass roadworthy beam-pattern checks — confirm with your inspector before ordering an LED swap.
