Fuel System for Toyota Hilux

Common-rail diesel injection on the GD-6 and D-4D Hilux is unforgiving — water contamination, dirty fuel, or a failed lift pump will strip an injector fast. Our toyota hilux fuel system range covers fuel pumps, fuel injectors, fuel filters, fuel rails and fuel pressure regulators across every diesel variant (1KZ-TE, 2KD-FTV, 1KD-FTV, 2GD-FTV, 1GD-FTV) plus the 3RZ-FE and 2TR-FE petrol engines. Used injectors are supplied flow-tested, matched in sets of four, with fresh seal kits.

The 2GD-FTV and 1GD-FTV run Denso piezo injectors, which are expensive new (R6,500-R12,000 each) but commonly available as reconditioned or low-mileage used units at roughly half price. Fuel filters are a cheap insurance policy — we stock OEM-quality filters from R180, and strongly recommend replacing every 15,000 km on diesel Hilux bakkies. Fuel tanks (plastic and steel variants) are available from the CPT depot when accident damage or rust has written one off.

Fuel System for Toyota Hilux — Frequently Asked

How much are Hilux 2.8 GD-6 injectors?

New Denso injectors for the 1GD-FTV (2.8 GD-6) run R8,500-R12,000 each. Reconditioned used injectors with flow-test certificates are R3,500-R6,000 each. Always replace in sets of four — mismatched injectors cause rough running and uneven fuel consumption. Budget for new injector seals, copper washers and a fuel filter at the same job.

My Hilux is hard to start cold — is it the glow plugs or injectors?

Hard cold-starting on a diesel Hilux is more commonly glow plugs than injectors. The 2GD-FTV uses low-cost ceramic glow plugs (R280-R550 each) and a glow-plug controller module. Scan for glow-plug circuit codes before condemning injectors. If the engine hunts at idle once warm, then injectors are the likely culprit.

Do you stock Hilux fuel pumps for the 1KD-FTV?

Yes. The Denso HP3 high-pressure fuel pump used on the 1KD-FTV (3.0 D-4D) is available as both new OEM (R14,000-R22,000) and reconditioned (R6,500-R10,500). Low-pressure in-tank lift pumps are cheaper — R1,500-R3,200 new, R600-R1,400 used. Always verify pump failure with a pressure test before replacing.
